Hans-Dieter Michatz (recorder)

has a long-standing reputation for his performances on baroque flute, recorder, and modern flute. He has appeared in many of Australia's prime musical events and Festivals, and as a guest artist with a number of the country's foremost Early Music Ensembles and orchestras. His CD of Telemann's Sonate Metodiche has gained critical acclaim in Australia and overseas.

He has also worked as an orchestral and choral conductor, with Sydney Philharmonic Choir, Sydney Chamber Choir, ACO Voices, and the Melbourne Collegium Baroque Orchestra. Hans-Dieter has taught widely in tertiary and secondary institutions throughout Australia. Recently he has given baroque flute masterclasses at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen, Germany. He performs regularly with the Hannover-based Carl Philipp Emmanual Bach Ensemble.
